Cowden and McCarthy Named 2015 MEDC Missouri Professional Economic Developer of the Year

COWDEN AND McCARTHY 2015 MISSOURI PROFESSIONAL
ECONOMIC DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR

Lake Ozark, MO  (June 10, 2015) – Tim Cowden, Senior Vice President  and  Jill McCarthy, Vice President with the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC)  have both been named by the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) as the 2015 Professional Economic Developer of the Year. This prestigious award is presented to an MEDC member who has made significant contributions in the field of community-based economic development.  Cowden and McCarthy were recognized at the MEDC Annual Conference on June 10th at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Both employed by the KCADC for 17 years, Cowden and McCarthy were engaged in Missouri-side projects in 2014 which resulted in over 2,000 jobs and $228,293,180 in capital investment.

“Tim and Jill are a dynamic duo that are equally deserving of this award.  Their combined skill sets and network of site selectors, realtors and industry leaders from around the country was instrumental in a record breaking year for the KCADC.” said John Engelmann, CEcD, President of MEDC and Manager of Economic Development for KCP&L.  “This Award recognizes not only their success this year, but the positive impact they have had on economic development in our area during their career at the KCADC.”

The Professional Economic Developer of the Year award winner is selected by the Counselors of MEDC, which is a group of professionals who have achieved great success in their economic development careers.
